How Did You Break Into The Industry / Your First Job
I accepted a job offer from Northwestern Mutual to be a financial planner directly out of college. After a year and a half I began to feel dreary from the mundane work week. I worked very hard to convince myself that was doing well, partially because I wore a suit and tie daily and I was seen as a model of success for my family and peers. While others looked up to me, I looked down on myself because the stagnicity of my job gave me no creative outlet and I slowly started to become a mindless drone. So I quit! Within two weeks of my resignation I was granted an opportunity to participate in The One Club creative boot camp in San Francisco. I live in Portland, OR so my friend and I had to pack up on a moments notice and drive 10 hours to San Francisco. This was my first official opportunity in the industry and I loved it! My team ended up placing 4th overall but the connections and experience I gained was very valuable.
Long Term Career Goal
I want to be a change agent in the world of advertising. I want to do this by challenging the average person to think deeper about their own ideas and how the view the world around them. Im not looking for a career per say but more of a lifestyle.
