How Did You Break Into The Industry / Your First Job
My first job experiencing public relations and marketing was during my sophomore year of undergraduate studies at Colby-Sawyer College. During this time, I joined the African Student Association, who appointed me as the publicity chair for the club. Throughout the year, the club I and worked diligently on creating a three-day conference, about promoting Pan-Africanism, and the result of the African diaspora in America today. Having the responsibility of the publicity chair, I networked with different clubs across campus, and gained the participation of eight clubs who committed to helping conduct the conference. A team and I created a website, flyers, and sent out campus email reminders leading up to the day of the conference. We also held fund raiser and held community service events to establish relationships, and gain sponsorship for the three-day conference.
Long Term Career Goal
My long term career goal is to ultimately own my very own public relation /marketing firm, that creates and promote brands for uprising black owned businesses in urban communities. This PR and marketing firm will advertise newly opened black owned businesses, and give them the publicity needed to make their business strive.
