How Did You Break Into The Industry / Your First Job
I broke into my first job in high school and in ll honesty the company had no intention of hiring me. The reason being that I was too young. It was a hotel two streets over from my high school where I studied Culinary Arts and every day after school I walked into that hotel and asked to speak to the same person every day for about 2 weeks starting the day I turned 17. The person I asked to speak to was the head of Banquets and Events. Most of the time when I came I would get responses like "He's busy, come back later" but one day I ran into him outside as he was leaving and I gave my spiel about how I desperately wanted to work in the hospitality industry and how often I had been showing up. He told me to come back in 3 days to talk to the hotel manager. When I finally met the manager I gave him my spiel and he reluctantly looked at me and told me I was too young - they wanted someone who was 18. I came back the next day with my certifications and a letter of recommendation from my principal and the director of the schools culinary department and a gallery of my food work. I was hired that day on the spot.
Long Term Career Goal
My long term-career goal is to become a brand manager and independent consultant, while working to increase the levels of diversity in multiple industries not just pertaining to marketing and advertising.
