How Did You Break Into The Industry / Your First Job
I moved to Washington, DC in 2013 as a fellow for a social and environmental advocacy non-profit, the Energy Action Coalition.
In my newly accepted role I was required to serve as a brand ambassador in the African American community. I performed core job functions in grassroots organizing, community outreach, and marketing.
Eager for a fulfill my calling to branding, relationship development, and community building, I currently work as a Marketing and Community Outreach Specialist with the Golden Triangle Business Improvement District. Our goal is to enhance the neighborhood through initiatives ranging from safety and security programming to economic development. I have handled major job responsibilities such as member outreach and relationship development; securing partnerships; event planning and logistics; fundraising; generating campaign giveaways; creating social media content; and market research.
Long Term Career Goal
Currently, I am an emerging community relations and marketing professional looking to transition into a creative career that will focus on brand strategy + development. With right environment, experiences, and relationship building, I will achieve of my goal of becoming a independent brand consultant, change agent, and strategist.
